It’s back!
The hot topic of the recruitment world took a back seat over the last twelve months, but now it’s back, and it’s more important than ever to ensure your company is ready.
We are of course talking about IR35.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK Government delayed the implementation of IR35 in the private sector until April 6th, 2021.
This was a much needed delay for many companies who had yet to implement an IR35 solution internally.
Understandably, however, during this time most companies were focused on navigating the challenges of operating through a pandemic, rather than preparing for the new off-payroll legislation, and that now leaves many in a precarious position, right back where they started.
There has been much speculation about whether the implementation of IR35 would be delayed again due to the ongoing pandemic and continued lockdowns across the UK, however following the approval of the Finance Act 2020, it now looks very likely to come into force in April.
So where does that leave you?
The good news is if you haven’t planned for IR35, there’s still time, and at Merit Software we have the experience needed to get your payroll software IR35 ready before April.
With over 20 years of experience, we were first to develop an update to our payroll package for IR35 in the public sector, and again the first to release support for the private sector as well.
It’s safe to say few know IR35 like we do, especially in relation to payroll.
Because many of our customers have come to us uncertain about what it is they need exactly for the IR35 reform, our consultants and project managers always get down to the nitty gritty of your company to ensure your system is configured with your exact needs in mind.
Sales Director at Merit, Sam Radion, said: “Our existing customers had the information they need to operate IR35 in our systems a year ago, but we know many companies out there still aren’t sure what to do. Some will need to upgrade to a system like ours to cope with IR35, some plan to make more use of umbrellas, and some are even planning to launch their own umbrella companies.
“Fortunately, there’s no need to worry, as we have automated, cloud-based software that can help in all cases.”
At Merit we act as your software partner, rather than a software provider, so we can guide you through the challenges and provide on-going support and free updates. This means you can focus on running your business safe in the knowledge your payroll is compliant.
The first step is simple – we arrange a demo with you, walk you through our system, and in half-an-hour we can show you what functionality we have in the system for you to be IR35 compliant.
Every company is different, so there is no “one size fits all” approach here. You always get a tailored system, configured to your needs, backed up by a team of nearly 50, all based in the UK.
Best of all, our team is still more than capable of getting your software installed and your payroll team trained by April, meaning you can hit the ground in the new financial year running.
Over two million workers are paid through Merit every single week, so book a demo today and take away that IR35 stress that’s resting on your shoulders.
